Every so often you see something that you love. Today I came across Anrealage Co. Ltd., a little known fashion design house owned by Kunihiko Morinaga. This guy is AMAZING. Seriously, he does things with fabric that you’ve never dreamed of. His pieces are incredibly structural, taking on geometric forms and sharp lines. But when worn his garments transform into something unbelievable…

What a weekend its been! Five parties over three days people. Yes, five. Needless to say I’m Knackered with a capital K. Thursday was Kati, my beautiful finnish friend’s flat party. Pumping tunes and an endless supply of homemade vodka jelly (pictured below) ensured for a good start to the night. Everyone was in costume of course. I decided I’d make use of my bowler hat and go as Alex from A Clockwork Orange, one of my favourite books. Kati went as Sandi from Grease.

Day 2 and it was me and my flatmates turn to throw a bash. We went all out decorating with pumpkins, banners and even a carved turnip! We all partied long and hard into the night. It all got so heated I had to take off my egyptian mummy costume…

Saturday. Jagermeister and beer for breakfast followed by a vegetarian curry. In the evening me and Kati attended my sisters going away party in this amazing bar called Under the Stairs. We stayed for a few tequilas before meeting up with our good friends David and Aga for a well deserved boogie. And then it was time for an after party! Bed at 6am for the 3rd night running. Heh, what can I say? I’m a student!

A Brush with Biba

The whole story of Biba has always been something that has interested me. The almost legendary department store took centre place in London’s fashion scene in the heart of the swinging sixties. The place revolutionised fashion retail as we know it- selling young, individual styles and entirely coordinated outfits for the very first time. Supermodels, rock stars, cockney girls and socialites brushed shoulders in the black and gold art deco rooms filled with merchandise ranging from beaded Moroccan style gowns to coffee and dustpans. And the woman behind all this? Barbara Hulanicki.

Tonight I was lucky enough to meet this talented woman at the Cameo cinema. A new independent film about her, Beyond Biba, had a one-off screening complete with the lady herself and a questions and answers session. I was mesmerised! Unfortunately I didnt manage to nab a photo of her personally (I even took my camera incase the opportunity arose) but thats her up there in all her glory.

Anonymity? There’s no such thing

Tonight, whilst watching music videos on youtube with a friend, I came across something rather interesting. We’d just finished watching Alpabeats new single ‘The Spell’ and, like normal, up popped all the related videos. I noticed there was one of a gig at the Electric Circus. One that I happened to be at. We clicked on the link and low and behold, there I am bopping away in the bottom right hand corner!

I think I might have to start locking myself indoors from now on!

Thou shalt not buy (more) clothes

Got up at 2pm today. I know I know, its kinda gross but I couldnt have faced the world anytime sooner. The weathers getting bad and the days are getting shorter. Plus, I couldnt handle the idea of going outside and inevitably spending money… especially after last nights unexpected splurge! Thats the second time this week I’ve spent well over 150 squid on clothing. Tut tut.

After much deliberation I decided to rise out of my cesspit and go a walk through the meadows. My subconscious fashion fixation took me to Armstrongs, one of the best vintage shops in the city. I spotted a few denim shirts and jackets to die for but my conscience got the better of me, I’ve spent WAY too much on clothing lately! And thats something I never thought Id hear myself say.

As a special not-buying-anything treat I headed to Peter’s Yard for a coffee and a snacklet.

Anyone who can do that to a cappuccino deserves a medal in my opinion. And their pastries are to die for! No photos of those yet but I’m sure I’ll find time to post one up soon.

Sipping on my coffee reading the Scotsman, an article caught my eye. A Norwegian has been arrested in Denmark trying to smuggle ten albino geckos and 14, yes FOURTEEN, royal pythons into the country by strapping them into stockings and ducktaping them to his stomach. Now seriously, how crazy would you have to be? The fact he was only 22 shocked me as well. Clearly there arent just a lot of mentlists out there, but a lot of young mentalists too.

And talk about trouser snakes…

Originally planning to show you candid photos of one of my many nights out, I changed my mind and decided to ease you into my giddy little stratosphere by posting up some photos of my city. I’m not going to reveal where it is just yet but there are more than enough clues in the pics if you look hard enough.
